Chandigarh is worth a half or full day even if you're only passing through — it's one of India's few planned cities, with wide boulevards, the Rock Garden's unusual sculpture park, and Sukhna Lake's promenade all within easy reach of each other.

This is the shortest trip on this list, and a good option for a light day between longer journeys or for visitors based in the city itself.

What to Know Before You Go

The Rock Garden is built entirely from recycled materials and industrial waste — one of the more unusual sights in North India.
Sukhna Lake is popular for an early morning or evening walk, when the light and temperature are both at their best.
The Rose Garden (Zakir Hussain Rose Garden) is best visited February–March when the roses are in bloom.
Chandigarh's sector-based grid layout makes it easy to navigate — most major sights are a short drive apart.

Best Time to Visit

Chandigarh works year-round. Winter (November–February) is the most comfortable for a full day of walking between sights; the Rose Garden specifically peaks in February–March. Summer (April–June) gets hot in the middle of the day, so an early start is worth planning for.
